Sametz Blackstone Associates is seeking an experienced User Experience (UX) Strategist and a User Interface (UI) Designer to join our digital team. These roles work in tandem with our brand strategy, design, and web development teams toward our ultimate goal of bringing brand-focused communications strategies to life on the web. These roles would both be part of the digital team and report to the Senior Web Producer.

Our digital team is responsible for website discovery and investigation, information architecture, UX design, and front-end and back-end development. We offer WordPress development in house, and work with dedicated partners to execute on a wide range of platforms, including Drupal, SiteCore, Blackbaud, and more.

User Experience (UX) Strategist


  • Leads UX discovery and analysis of user research, content inventory, review of metrics and analytics, and competitive benchmarking
  • Strategize and develop all information architecture for client websites
  • Ability to test ideas (sitemap, architecture, or user flows) through user research including interviews, moderated and online user testing, and card sorting exercises
  • Perform all UX-related research for new client projects and lead competitive audit for clients’ peer set
  • Recommend new site architecture and provide explanation for decisions to internal and external teams; establishes and advocates for UX best practices
  • Produces and refines sitemaps, content models, content outlines, user stories and flows, taxonomies, wireframes, and other UX documentation
  • Assists in developing content strategy, including structure, voice and tone guidelines, and assists clients with prioritization and governance planning

Ideal qualifications / expertise:

  • 3-5 years experience in a UX Strategy / Information Architecture capacity, agency preferred
  • Experience in UX Design, including the creation of wireframes, interactive prototypes and feature set definition
  • Experience with visual storytelling techniques, including visual design, storyboarding and/or film and video
  • Any contribution to content strategy and development would be a major plus!
  • Familiarity with WCAG 2.0 and other web accessibility standards
  • Prior experience in a client facing role — must be comfortable meeting clients and making UX recommendations

User Interface (UI) Designer


  • Develop mockups and prototypes in collaboration with design team that meet the needs of a variety of audiences and the client’s overall brand strategy across all viewports
  • Work closely with internal development and design teams to ensure flawless integration with back-end technology and a great user experience
  • Prepare thorough documentation of design assets for hand-off to development team; work in close consultation during front-end development to recommend and refine the design and interaction touchpoints
  • Maintain expert knowledge of and advocate for user experience best practices
  • Communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Lead the design quality assurance process and UAT reviews
  • Collaborate with the content strategy and information architecture leads to ensure content needs are matched with thoughtful and usable design

Ideal qualifications / expertise:

  • Minimum 2 years of professional design experience, agency preferred
  • Experience using Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision DSM, or other tools, to create pattern libraries or design systems for website implementation
  • Experience applying responsive design and accessibility (WCAG) best practices
  • Familiarity with front-end code (including HTML, CSS and JavaScript) using current standards for cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility
  • Experience collaborating with developers and other designers
  • Ability to work in a flexible environment between multiple teams; willingness to help teams create ideal workflows and process improvements
  • Passionate about finding solutions to complex problems through beautiful and intuitive design
  • Organized, efficient, and able to manage multiple and complex projects
  • Act as “go to” with in-depth knowledge of user interface best practices and standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
