Manager, Business Development

Sametz Blackstone Associates is seeking a Manager, Business Development to assist our team in developing and stewarding a strong new business pipeline for our brand-focused communications consultancy. This role would be responsible for developing and maintaining a sustainable strategy to achieve the following objectives:

Discover, engage, and steward leads and prospects within our key verticals / practice areas: arts & culture; education & research; community & nonprofit organizations; and professional and financial services enterprises.

  • Active outreach to prospects
  • Pursuing, documenting, and following up with leads

Increase awareness of Sametz through targeted networking and content opportunities

  • With aligned professional associations—through participation in / networking presence at events / conferences, webinars, publications, association committees
  • With industry publications and media

Build and maintain partnerships with complementary organizations

  • Fundraising consultants
  • Technology partners
  • Media partners
  • Photography, videography, research, etc.

Support internal communications and marketing efforts

  • Assist with proposal and pitch development
  • Assist with website and social media content development


The ideal candidate will ideally be a mid-career professional with a background in marketing or development in one of our chief verticals, who has a strong familiarity with our region and the markets we work in—and a desire to dig in and learn more.

We’re looking for an outgoing, deeply curious individual with excellent written and oral communication skills who can be the face of our company at events, conferences, and pitches (in concert with senior staff). Being an enthusiastic, flexible team player is a must; we are a small but ambitious group of professionals who collaborate thoughtfully with one another and with our clients to do great work for mission-driven organizations. We expect strong fluency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications—social media savvy would be a plus.

We envision this role as a hybrid in-office and remote position, but the successful applicant will reside within the Greater Boston area to take advantage of networking and event opportunities. The position could be full-time or part-time.
